Louise Williams, the food preservation chairwoman at Delta Fair & Music Festival for 12 years, is The Best Times volunteer of the month for August.

She has been volunteering at fairs for more than 30 years.

Williams was described as a person who is always willing to help, is dependable, organized and ready to “get this show on the road.”

She retired from Goldsmith’s department store, but didn’t stop her volunteer work.

A life member of the Memphis Area Master Gardeners, Williams is a volunteer for Farm Education Day at the Agricenter International, a member of the Memphis Cotton Patcher’s Quilt Guild and is a lifelong member of Colonial Baptist Church.

She has been married to James Williams for 68 years. They have two daughters, Pat Edrington of Madison, Miss., and Pam Sousoulas of Memphis. The couple has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Along with volunteering her time at Delta Fair & Music Festival’s crafts, culinary and collectible department, Mrs. Louise is a excellent cook and baker.

Her cornbread salads and blueberry cakes are renowned.
