Bettie Durham is a familiar name in the halls of Church Health. Some know her personally from the years she spent as a volunteer, and others know her name and legacy as it lives on through the Church Health Christmas card program.

Each fall, as Church Health prepares for the holiday season, Church Health sends a “Bettie Durham List” to donors who ordered Christmas Cards the prior year. The Bettie Durham list contains the names of friends and loved ones Christmas Card donors identify to receive cards. With this list, donors can review and edit for address changes, additions, deaths and the like.

Securely storing these lists and saving donors the trouble of starting from scratch was all Bettie’s idea.

For years, Christmas Card donors had to rewrite their list before Church Health volunteers signed the cards and mailed them to each designated recipient. Bettie recognized the hassle in this system. She found a way to store the lists from year to year and send them to their creator for edits just before the Christmas card season.

Bettie made the Christmas card program her year-long focus while she volunteered at Church Health. We honor her thoughtful stewardship by continuing to send these lists affectionately named for Bettie Durham.
