District Olympics brought athletes to Memphis last month.

– for athletes 50 and older of all skills

– drew participants to various venues in the area last month.

Events included badminton, basketball, shuffleboard, racquetball, softball throw, bowling, table tennis, long jump, javelin, shot put, discus, high jump, tennis, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, cycling, running and swimming.

Track and field events were at the Fairgrounds. Swimming and other events took place at several other places.

The 2020 state finals will be in Williamson County. The date will be announced.

The next national games will be in 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Athletes must qualify for this event in the state finals.

Medalist Ken O. Ellis won 5 medals totaling 497 toward his goal of 500.
